The NFL is now entering it’s final stretch of the regular season. December football is upon us and yet the Autumn Wind is still storming the country. The Raiders’ 9-2 record currently slots them in as the second seed in the AFC. They hold a one game lead over Kansas City, who already have a victory over the Raiders in Oakland.
In 1991 the league’s first African-American head coach would lead a silver laden team of football giants to the AFC Championship game. Despite this incredible social accomplishment, the team would go on to be decimated by Jim Kelley and the Buffalo Bills.
Derek Carr is easily A better human being, than he is a QB, and we all know, he’s a damn good Signal Caller.
Welcome to TRF’s Week 13 Edition of Playoff Pontificator. For this go around we will look at all six possible outcomes for the Oakland Raiders, ranging from 9-7 to 14-2.
I became a fan late in the 2008 season after my dad purchased a cable TV service that included ESPN America (known back then as NASN). It was at that time that I was first exposed to college football and fell in love with the sport immediately. But although college football was fun, it was nothing compared to the big boys. So in search of my team, I did what every boy does… ask dad.
8-2!!! What a game….Stealin’ one just like a Pirate should!
Right now we are going to geek out and talk playoffs. For the first time in over 13 years, we finally look to be on a sustainable path that will get this Raider Ship into the playoffs. No more ‘Ten and Then’ or even ‘Five and We Are Alive’ nonsense. What we will be discussing here, good friends, is the myriad of possibilities associated with the 2016 playoff run we are deeply immersed in right now.
It’s been 14 years since our favorite squad, the Silver & Black were relevant. 14 years ago? A lot has changed:
When I graduated from UC Davis in 1981, my girlfriend and future ex-wife, had a job in LA at Oscar Meyer so we moved to Westminster. My father at the time was semi-retired and purchasing a small company in Orange County. I had worked warehouse and trucking jobs over the past few years, so he asked me to help out and verify the inventory, meet with the vendors and manufacturers of the product, among other tasks. Five years later, we were bankrupt, but it was a great run.
As a biased Raider fan the rest of the week in the NFL only matters to me as much as it affects the Raiders in the standings or the general downfall of our most hated rivals. So fellow homers, here is who you should root for week 11 as a Raider fan.
The doldrums that is the mid-season bye week is finally coming to a close. The pillaging pirates in black look to emerge from this Bermuda Triangle with a healthy roster of swashbucklers. With the team setting sail to Mexico City to take on the Houston Texans, we take a closer look under the hull and give you the skeleton keys to the game.
